He sprinkled me in pixie dust and told me to believe
Believe in him and believe in me
Together we will fly away in a cloud of green
    To your beautiful destiny
As we soared above the town that never loved me
    I realized I finally had a family

    But I'm only human
And I bleed when I fall down
    I'm only human
And I crash and I break down
Your words in my head, knives in my heart
You build me up and then I fall apart
    'Cause I'm only human

    Finn: it's your own star
Rachel: you named a star after me?
Finn: no, i thought about it, but then i named it Finn Hudson, because there already is a star called Rachel Berry, and she's right here on earth and she's brighter than any of those stars up there. So I wanted to make sure that whenever she feels lonely, she can look up at the sky and no matter where i am, she can know that i'm looking down on her.

    When he sleeps,
the snoring does not bother me:
    the rhythmic growl, gravel shoved
across the sidewalk of his throat.
It is the grasping, desperate way
in which he takes in air—his gulping lungs
as if every dream is filled with water
and he is trying to inflate
the life jacket under his skin.
I babble in my sleep. He believes
I am trying to tell him how my heart works,
says he will translate the manual one day.
I want to ask him: am I the ocean?
    Are you drowning in everything
    I don’t say when I’m awake?

Every morning I sit at the kitchen table over a tall glass of water swallowing pills.
(So my hands won’t shake.) (So my heart won’t race.) (So my face won’t thaw.)
(So my blood won’t mold.) (So the voices won’t scream.) (So I don’t reach for
knives.) (So I keep out of the oven.) (So I eat every morsel.) (So the wine goes
bitter.) (So I remember the laundry.) (So I remember to call.) (So I remember the
name of each pill.) (So I remember the name of each sickness.) (So I keep my
hands inside my hands.) (So the city won’t rattle.) (So I don’t weep on the bus.) (So
I don’t wander the guardrail.) (So the flashbacks go quiet.) (So the insomnia
    sleeps.) (So I don’t jump at car horns.) (So I don’t jump at cat-calls.) (So I don’t
    jump a bridge.) (So I don’t twitch.) (So I don’t riot.) (So I don’t slit a strange man’s
    throat.)

He says ‘I don’t get it, why are you still a virgin at 24?’
He says ‘I don’t believe you, I’ve seen you walk, virgins don’t walk like that’
He says, ‘That ain’t natural, people are supposed to f*ck.’
He asks ‘Why though? No offence though.’
I ask ‘When was your first time?’
    He says ‘I was 12’
He says ‘I know what you’re thinking, that’s too young.’
I look at his knuckles, he has two good hands.
He says ‘She was older than me.’
    I ask ‘How old?’
And he says ‘It’s better that the girl is older, that’s how I learnt all things I know’
    He licks his lips.
    I ask again ‘How old?’
He says ‘I could use one finger to make you sob’
I think of my brother in prison and I can’t remember his face.
    I ask again ‘How old?’
He says ‘Boys become men in the laps of women, you know?’
I think of my mothers faced lined with her bad choices in men.
He says ‘If you were mine you wouldn’t get away with this sh*t, I’d eat you for hours, I’d gut you like fruit.’
I think of my cousin’s circumcision, how she feels like a mermaid, not human from the waist down.
He says ‘I’d look after you, you know?’
I laugh, I ask for the last time ‘How old?’
    He says ’34.’
He says ‘She was beautiful though and I know what you’re thinking but it’s not like that, I’m a man, I’m a man, I’m a man. No one could ever hurt me’.
