I agree that some people haven't had such a bad year, but I know personally at least 2 other people besides myself that this last year has been pure for, so when people complain, maybe they truly feel like their year has been horrible..

Don't expect this one text to change that for you, or you could be setting yourself up for some serious heartache all over again. If he DOES end up loving you again, then, hey, cool.(: but if he ignores you after that, then at least you know where you stand with him. It sounds like he was more interested in being just friends all along, than being "official", so maybe with this guy, just friends is the best way to go.
