My Summery Of The Hunger Games :D
This book, The Hunger Games, the narrator, Katniss Everdeen, must fight to the death in the annual Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a once a year event in which 24 people are chosen, these people are called tributes, 2 people, a boy and a girl, from each of the 12 districts of Panem. Those 24 tributes must fight to the death in an arena, called The Capitol. The selected tributes, from the ages 12-18, are than sent to The Capitol where they prepare you to kill one another in the arena. The catch is, only one person can win. Every year, every person‘s name, from ages 12-18, gets put in the large bowl. When you’re 12, your name goes in one time and when you’re 13 it goes in twice and so on. Unless you have a poor family, you can request Tesserae for each family member that needs it. Katniss had her name in 20 times, because every year, she requested Tesserae for her mother, sister and herself. The problem is, the names are never wiped out, they stay in the large bowl until you become over-aged for the Games. Katniss Everdeen is one of the 24 tributes, from District 12 of Panem. She is a teenager that puts food on her family’s table almost every night, from hunting down various animals with her friend Gale. She has a younger sister, who’s name is Primrose Everdeen and is 12, which means this is her first year at the Reaping. The Reaping is what they call the picking of tributes from the bowl. She only had her name entered once. At the reaping, Effie Trinket, who is the person who picks the names from the large bowl, calls out the name, “Primrose Everdeen”. The chances of her name being called was extremely slim. Surprisingly, Primrose’s sister, Katniss, jumps up to volunteer as tribute, to keep her sister safe. Therefore Katniss is the girl tribute from District 12. The male tribute from District 12 is Peeta Mellark, a 16 year old boy that had once saved Katniss' life. Peeta is referred to by Katniss as “The Buy with the Bread”. When in the Captiol, each District rides down on a chariot with costumes that reflects their District. Katniss and Peeta are dressed in full body covered costumes that are lit by an aluminum fire. Katniss Everdeen from this point is known as “The Girl On Fire” Each tribute, the night before entering the arena, gets to have an interview with Ceaser Flickerman, the humorous, blue-haired host. The interview is broadcasted across he entire country of Panem. During the Interview, Katniss wears a dress that also comes alive in flames and Peeta tells a secret that suprises everyone! You‘ll have to read the book to find out!
