“I’m sorry,” I looked in to his sparkling, shiny eyes.
“I’ll be back before you know it. “ I told Joe. “Jazz,
you’ll be gone a whole four weeks, Sometimes I
can’t even bear the evening without seeing you.
Promise you’ll Skype me every night, like we said,
yes? And no getting off with any fit Australian
boys!” He replied, laughing. “Oi, I’ll miss you,
y’know. And urr, Joe, I’m fourteen. No hot surfer
boy would fall for me?” I took his hands in mine.
Joe, released them, then took my shoulders, staring
into my eyes. “Well,” He said, raising his eyebrow.
“This-“ He waved a hand over his body. “Hot
English boy fell for you.” He said, cockily. “Haha!
Shh. Anyway, Mum is giving me the look. I’ll Skype
you when I land, I love you.” I said, rocking onto
my toes to kiss him. Joe took my face in his strong
hands. “I love you too Jasmin. I love you.” Then he
leaned in, leaving his sweet taste on my lips. I
turned slowly, re-treating to Mum, Grandma,
Grand-Bob, Kate, Sarah, Jason and Charlie. Kate
looked at me. “You like him alot, don’t you.” I
didn’t want to catch her eye. “More than any
other...” I said, looking at the airport’s shiny floors.
Kate ruffled my messy hair up, so that it really did
look like a birds nest. “I can’t believe we’re doing
this without Dad...” Kate said sadly, taking the
words out of my mouth. My lip trembled, silently.
“He would of loved to come. We’re doing this for
him.” Mum replied, keeping me and Kate strong. I
looked back at Joe, who stranding on his toes, with
a piece of paper held up high above his head. As I
stepped onto the plane, I read the paper. It said;
‘I will keep loving you, even though you’re away
across the world.’
