Just Missed Me
Part Four
Darcy's POV
Nov. 6
The smell of bacon woke me up.
“Oh my gosh! Ma!” I yelled.
“What, sweets?” she yelled back.
“Are you making friggin’ bacon!?”
“Don’t say ‘friggin,’” she said. I sat down at the counter,
waiting for my breakfast.
“So, anything planned for this weekend?” she asked me.
“Why do you care?” I responded. Then grimaced; at least
she had asked me. “I’m going to a party tonight. Julia’s
picking me up.”
“Oh. Well, I’m working the whole weekend. Speaking of,
I gotta go. See you later, Darce.” She kissed the top of my
head.
“Yeah. Bye.” I faked a smile.
I went upstairs to get ready for the day. But, since it was
only 10:30, I had some time to kill. I started out by Tumblin’
and Wittying, then I decided to do homework. I took a total
of 10 minutes doing that. Most of that time was spent getting
out my stuff and sharpening my pencil. Productivity at it’s
finest.
At two, I ate some chips for lunch. Then I watched TV for about
three hours.

Darcy’s POV
Nov. 5
"So, whatcha doing this weekend?" Julia asked me once we got to school.
We started walking in.
"The usual, probably. Tumblin, Witty..." I shrugged.
"Well, don't you party hard?" she laughed and so did I.
"What are you doing?" I asked her.
"I'm actually going to a party. Stephanie Melbrook is throwing one--"
"Again," I interrupted.
"And I thought that it might be fun to go."
"Well, aren't you just little miss popular?" I used the same tone she used before.
"I think you should come, too. Might be fun. There's a pool. And hot guys."
She winked.
"Fine. You had me at 'hot guys.' Pick me up before you go. When is it?" I asked.
"Saturday night. At seven. I'll pick you up then. Now," we entered the building.
"I have to get to homeroom. Text ya soon." She wiggled her fingers good-bye
and I did the same.
I turned a corner to go to my locker, and banged into a guy. Correction: a hot guy.
"Oh, sorry," he said.
"It's okay. Me too," I gazed up at him.
"Nah, it's cool." He looked down at me for the first time. He started to grin as his
eyes locked with mine. Elephants started marching around my stomach.
RIIIIIING!
"I gotta go. Catch you later?" he said, talking so low, only I could hear it.
"Yeah..." I trailed off and wandered up the stairs to my homeroom. I got there
just before the late bell rang.
"Close one," my teacher told me.
I nodded a little, only thinking about his grin when he saw me. And his eyes. His
beautiful, beautiful eyes...
The bell signifying homeroom was over woke me out of my trance.
How was I going to make it through the day not seeing him again?

Just Missed Me
Part One
Darcy’s POV
Nov. 5
“It’s gotta be youuuuuu.” My alarm clock blasted One Direction. I woke up
with a start, and with a smile.
I stretched and immediately became freezing. Why is it always cold in my
house? I crawled out of my covers and went into the bathroom. I took a
shower and then looked at myself.
"Blech." My make-up was streaked and my hair was (of course) a mess.
I cleaned up my mess of a face and brushed my hair. Then I straightened it.
I don't care about what people say about my hair being "beautiful curly." I
ike it straight.
I did my make-up and put on my comfiest clothes: a grey sweater with horses
on it, my jeans, and black and pink vans. It's Friday; screw it.
When I walked downstairs, I couldn't find my mom.
"Bye, Mom. See you later, I hope," I said, to no one.
I grabbed my bag and walked out.
When I got to my friend, Julia's house (she drives me to school), it was already sunny.
I was regretting my decision to wear a sweater.
I waited on her doorstep for about three minutes, then she came out. She was
wearing something much more weather appropriate: a weird but cool colorful T-shirt
with a rib cage on it, cute high-waisted shorts, and her white leather jacket that her
parents got her that she's been wearing ever since she got it. And sparkly Toms with mustache earrings. An outfit that was very...her.
"Hey," she said.
"Hi. TGIF." I winked.
"Thank God I'm Fresh. Yup." We laughed and got into her car: a Subaru.
We put on the radio and sang our way to school. This is how we roll.
