Fake Smiles
Chapter 1

Vanessa silently died inside as she watched him walk pass her. The memories flooded back into her mind. He acted as though he never knew her. As if, nothing happend between the two. She slowly moved her hand so her wrist. The braclet was still there. As she touched it even more memories floated back to her mind. She traced the word "Forever" on the golden braclet. She wanted to scream and cry. She wanted to run away the most of all, but she couldn't. Marissa awoke her up out of her memories and thoughts. "Vanessa, come on we gotta get to the store before it closes." It was a warm summer afternoon. The sun was just starting to go down as it neared eight o'clock. Marissa's mother had asked Marissa and Vanessa to run down to the store and pick up a few things. She had even gave them extra money to get some candy and snacks for their sleepover. They slowly started walking down the block.
"That was him." Vanessa whispered and broke the silence. "Nessa... " Marissa started to say as she slowed her pace. Marissa knew about almost everything that had happend, but some things Nessa kept to herself. "When we get home we can watch all your favorite movies and eat all of the food in the house!" She smiled brightly. Even though Vanessa wasn't in the mood to smile and laugh, Marissa always broke through her shell.
When the girls got home from the store, they did just what Marissa had said they would. It was a great night until they decided to go to bed. After Marissa fell asleep, Vanessa went into the bathroom. She locked the door and sat on the floor. It was 3am. She started crying as she couldn't hold the pain inside any longer. She took of her braclets all but the golden one Damon had given her. She traced the cuts on her wrists with her fingers. It had been a month after her and Damon had broken up and he'd forgotton her existance. It'd been a living hell. They were so inlove. She hated herself for letting him go. She blamed herself for everything. For fighting with him, for not being good enough, for being cocky, for being hideous, and for letting him go. She told herself he was happy and that was all that mattered. She had to let go.
