Today, my guidance counselor pulled the advance guys' class and the advanced girls class into the girls classroom. She let the teachers leave, and made us all partner up. We had to say something about our partner, then give them a compliment. After that, we watched a video about cliques, (MTV If You Knew Me, Challenge Day at Royal Oak High School) and afterwards she split us into groups of 5-6. She made sure to put us with people we don't hang out with. We then had to tell them something they didn't know about us. (Ex: "If you really knew me, you would know that my parents are divorced." or something deep like that.) Some of these stories were absolutely heartbreaking. Many people were crying from some of the stories, because they didn't think that person went through something like that. At the end, almost everyone was crying, and we were all going around hugging everyone. Imagine if someone would've walked in to 47 students crying and hugging each other. It changed my prespective of everything and everyone. The counselor said she was going to do this more with out classes, and we are all beginning to act like a huge family. I have so many emotions right now, I don't even know. If you took the time to read this, thank you. And please, learn someone's background and story before judging them. <3
