Twenty minutes passed. Officer Mitchell's police radio kept going off. "Any sight of Nicole?," one Officer asked. "No not yet," replied another. " Do- do- do her parents know?," Adam asked. He stutters when he's nervous. The last time he was nervous around me was when his mom died. "I don't know. I thought you-" I then saw the car door open when Officer Mitchells came into the car. Silence. "What did my dad want?," Adam asked. "We found a charm bracelet, a sneaker, and a bandana with Nicole's hair in the knot. It looks like that was used to 'keep her quite'." I fell onto Adam's lap and started to cry. I noticed that this situation had gotten very much real. Adam started to hug me and whispered in my ear, " Like you said, 'We will find her. Trust me.'"
Finally after sitting in the cop car crying my eyes out, Officer ShoeMaker got into the car. "We have to continue this tomorrow." he said. "BUT DAD," Adam shouted. "BUT NOTHING ADAM. We did all we can tonight. Wait until the morning." then Officer Shoemaker started the car and drove me home. I sat on my door step, thinking of all the memories Nikki and I had. This wasn't our first fight but it was the worst. I finally went inside and did our favorite thing in the world when we got bored. I took a lighter and a fork and when into the cabinet to get a marshmallow, graham crackers, and Hersheys. I roasted 13 smores
I finally went in my room to find Nicole's bag on the floor. I didn't want to touch it but It might be some sort of 'evidence'. I hated to think that she might be gone forever. I thought again. Someone had to do it. I picked up my cell phone and called Mrs. Moore.
Mrs. Moore:Hello?
Danny:hi Mrs. Moore
Mrs. Moore: Oh Danny. I'm glad you called. What-What happened?
Danny: I'm so sorry. I don't know. We got into a fight and- and- and I left her. I shouldn't have and I'm so sorry.
Mrs. Moore: Oh Danielle it's fine darling. It wasn't your fault. We are doing everything we can. No one wanted this to happen. I'm trying so hard not to cry. I don't want my fears to get the best of me.
Danny: Thats good. Stay strong Mrs. M. I will do whatever I can to help bring her back.
Mrs. Moore: Thank you so much Danny and i appreciate you calling.
Danny: No problem
Mrs. Moore forgot to hang up the phone. She started to cry so I hung up. I feel like my life is messed up. She was my bestfriend. I can't imagine myself without her. I then got a text from Adam:
Adam: Comme overr?
Danny: why???
Adam: I can'tt go through thiss aloneeee
Danny: Ook. can you pickk me upp?
Adam: im already here.
We went to the kitchen. We made hot coco and watched the notebook. I fell asleep with him arm around me. I woke up next to him on the couch. I wanted to get over the day before and that night changed my life forever
That was just the awful night. It's been two years since Nicole disappeared.
