Yes, my parents named me Blue.
No, they did not name me Blue because they hated me.
They named me Blue, they say, because I was born with blue hair. It does sound impossible, but it's completely true.
My parents put me in an orphanage when I was 3, and I remember how my mom's hair was always a bleach blonde flowing in the wind, and how there was a little sparkle in my Dad's eyes. I miss them, but they promised on my 16th birthday, they would be back for me.
2 days from now is my 16th birthday, and I am really excited to get out of this dump of an orphanage.
Okay, it's not a dump, it's really nice. Everybody has their own rooms, and we can share them with our best friend's or someone, if we want. The "leader" as we call her, asks us to call her by her first name, which is Haley. Haley is only 22, and she took her mother's place at this orphanage.
She is a sweet girl, and she loves us all very equally. I'm going to miss her so much, but you know what my orphanage does that most do not?
Haley give us phones on our 13th birthday! And, if we get adopted or our parents come back, she let's us keep it!
I'm not very popular in my school, or the orphanage for that matter. The most popular girl, Abby, has both of her parents and lives in a mansion with them. My best friend, Nelli, only has a dad, because her mom died when we were 7. They aren't rich, though, they live in an apartment on the corner of 3rd.
I don't visit Nelli much, because my orphanage is on 22nd and that is out of my boundries.
See, when you are 1-10 you aren't allowed to go out of the orphanage without an adult, from 10-13 your boundries are from 22nd (our street) to either 30th or 16th, then when you are 14-17 your boundries are 22nd to either 32nd or 12th, then from 17-until you move out, you are allowed to go anywhere. Nelli visits me, whenever her dad can drop her off.
Which is today! Her father is dropping her off in an hour, and we are going to go to Bill's Pizza on 19th. I have money, because I have a part-time job as a cashier at the corner deli on 20th.
Right now, it is 10:30 A.M. and I am wondering what Haley or Nelli are getting me for my birthday this year?
Usually, Nelli get's me something, that she get's a different color or style in or something. I think this year she is going to get us designer purses.
Usually, Haley get's everyone something small that is $20 or less. Sometimes, she get's us stuff for our rooms, like new dressers, or new bean bag chairs. I am hoping for a desk this year
Beep! Beep! Nelli's dad was beeping to tell me she was here, and I looked out the window. Haley was waving goodbye to Nelli's dad, and Nelli was staying until 6:00 tonight when her dad get's home from work. They came inside, and I was still looking out my window when Nelli came in my room. "Hey hey hey!" she said.
