"Ready to go, kiddo?" Aunt Carolyn asked as I came down the stairs, Blake following close behind me.
"Yep, we're ready." I replied, glancing back at Blake. He smiled down at me, his eyes warm and loving. I sighed. I was so lucky to have a brother like him. As we walked out the door and across our yard toward Mary's, I was suddenly starting to get nervous. I tugged at my necklace, my breath catching in my throat. What if Liam doesn't like me? I thought as we neared the gate. NO, it doesn't matter. I don't like him. I felt Blake's hand on my back as crossed into their yard. He leaned down, and whispered in my ear, "he'd be crazy not to like you, sis. You look amazing." I leaned back, grateful for having him here.
"I love you, forever." I softly said. "I love you, always," he responded, gently pushing me forward.
As Aunt Carolyn knocked on their door, I took a deep breath. Everything is going to be fine.
"Carolyn! Blake, nice to see you, kid! Awh, Abbie, you look beautiful, sweetie. Come in, come in!" Mary said, full of enthusiasm. As I passed her going into the house, she leaned down and in a low voice said, "I think Liam likes you, sweetie. I asked him about it, and all he did was glare at me... that's a good sign." She winked, and I nervously giggled. "Blake, I think Liam is upstairs playing xbox. That kid never gets off of it, I swear... why don't you go introduce yourself?" Mary said, pulling away from me.
"Alright," Blake, said, starting up the staircase at the end of the hallway. "Wanna come, Abbie?"
"Nah, not right now, thanks. I'll come up in a little." I replied, starting towards the kitchen. Blake shrugged, and headed upstairs. As I went down the hallway, I heard the low murmer of Blake's voice, and then the sound of shooting. Great, Call of Duty...I thought as I reached the kitchen. Aunt Carolyn and Mary were sitting at the island in the kitchen, and I took the chance to look around. They had a smaller house then my Aunt's, but it was small and cozy. The kitchen led into a dining room, with all glass windows. I went in there, and looked outside and was met by a dazzling and sparkling pool. It took up most of the backyard, and it had a diving board and a slide, as well as a basketball hoop.
"Checking out the pool, eh?" Mary said, coming up behind me. "You can come over and swim whenever you'd like, sweetheard. Someone's usually always out there, whether it's me or Mr. White or Liam." she continued, referring to her husband.
"Where is Tom, Mary?" Aunt Carolyn said, leaning against the doorframe.
"Work. He'll be home by dinnertime, don't you worry!" Mary said, turning back to go into the kitchen. "Why don't you go upstairs and hangout with the boys, Abbs? Get to know Liam a little better. You guys can go swimming after dinner!" Mary called behind her as she walked back into the kitchen with Aunt Carolyn.
"Okay, I guess I will..." I said reluctantly, walking back down the hallway towards the stairs. As I walked up, the sounds of Blake and Liam's voices grew louder. I followed the noises, which brought me to the end of the hallway. There were 4 doors lining the hallways, and I knocked on the last one.
"Coming!" I heard Liam call, and I waited patiently. As he opened the door, he had a wary look on his face. Once he saw me, though, his whole face brightened and a blush crept up on his cheeks.
