They hadn't seen each other in a while,
now they were suddenly face to face,
taking shelter from the rain under a hut.
It was small talk,
she had her guard up,
but he understood why.
The conversation was going no where,
"I'm gonna go," he said,
looking to the floor.
He than picked his head up,
and flashed that smile,
that smile she's still in love with.
"Was good seeing you," he said,
turning around to walk away.
"Why was I so easy to forget?"
she whispered, tears streaming from her eyes.
He turned around slowly and said,
"Is that what you think?
Everyday I wake up regretting that day,
that day I didn't fight to keep you,
that day I watched you walk away.
You're still my first thought waking up,
and my last going to sleep."
Suddenly tears came to his eyes,
"Easy to forget baby?
You're still the love of my life,
and I promise you this,
I'd do anything to have you back."

so this was it,
the last time i'd see you, hold you, kiss you, feel you..
it was our final goodbye.
the last call for my flight gets called and i have to go,
i kiss you one last time as tears roll down my cheeks,
"i love you baby" you said,
wiping my tears away.
"always and forever." i replied.
as soon as i felt your arms let go of me,
my heart shattered.
i walked away,
i couldn't bare to look back.
you yelled out my name,
but i didn't hear you..
i'm now here without you,
i miss you.

they hadn't spoken to each other since that night,
that night two years ago.
time had passed, they'd gotten older and wiser,
but the love was still there,
you could see it in both their eyes.
it was raining,
they were standing under shelter together, catching up,
asking each other how their life has been,
"good" they both said,
but the truth is;
they were both miserable without each other.
she hadn't known the truth of that night,
the truth of why he ended it, she had to know,
it had been eating away at her for so long.
"why'd you leave?" she asked.
"i had too," he replied.
but that wasn't good enough.
she took a deep breath and walked out into the rain,
he ran after her and grabbed her.
"now you want to come after me?
i waited two years for you to come back,
and you didn't," she yelled.
"we were young and i was foolish,
i didn't know how to treat you,
every single day i'd find a new way to hurt you.
i didn't want to do that to you anymore,
i loved you and i still do love you.
did you think it was easy for me to put you through that?
i'm supposed to protect you from anyone hurting you,
and i couldn't even protect you from myself.
i needed to grow up and i have," he said.
he took her in his arms,
and kissed her.
