Summer's Rain: Chapter 1
I slammed the car door shut after taking out the cardboard box marked 'Summer's Things', I took a quick peer inside. Of course, unorganised as all ways. Despite the label, it was full of antique china plates and cutlery. The song on my iPod ended just as my brother, Dylan stepped out of the scrap of a car, followed by my mother.
"I hope mom doesn't offer to take me to school in this piece of crap on Monday. I need to make a good impression and this piece of junk won't let me achieve that." I thought to myself.
"Sweetie, do you need a lift to school on Monday? It's no trouble." Mom said as she got the last of the boxes out of the trunk.
"Um... No, it's okay Mom. I can walk, it's not too far. Besides, don't you think I'm old enough for my own car now? I'm almost 16." I replied.
"Don't you think I should be first in line, I've been waiting two years." Dylan said, butting in.
"Now, now. You two know that we're low on cash at the moment, and when we get back on track, Dylan is first." Reasoned Mom.
"Ha! In your face squirt!"
God, he is so mature for a 17 year old. Not. I sighed and stepped into the house first. It was nice. Normally, when I say nice, I mean 'okay'. But no, it really was nice.
I actually feel happy to be here.
