This Summer.
Something tragic happened.
I met this boy who used to be popular but went to being a loser. Nobody sat by him at lunch and he always got made fun of. But by the looks of it, he didn't really care.
One day at lunch, something just made me sit by him and ask him what happened.
We ended up talking a lot and I found out he told all his friends straight up what he thought of them.
I know, weird. Why would someone risk being popular for just saying the truth. That just doesn't happen these days.
He also showed me this list of ten things he wanted to do this Summer.
1. Eat one litre of ice cream.
2. Shower under a waterfall.
3. Have a watermelon eating contest.
4. Go swimming with the Great White sharks.
5. Get up to see the sunrise, not sunset.
6. Play the guitar and sing infront of a crowd.
7. Watch fireworks on top of a hill.
8. Send a message in a bottle.
9. Give mom a dozen red roses and tell her I love her.
10. Fall in love.
We got closer after the weeks until he wanted to do some of the stuff on the list with me.
It was amazing. I've never had so much with anyone before. I felt little again.
But when he wrote the letter in the bottle he didn't let me see.
It was for someone he liked. It made me super jealous.
Two weeks before Summer he told me how he loved me. And we kissed.
Until he had a nose bleed and ran home.
He was at the hospital and I found out he had terminal brain cancer.
"I'm gonna die," He said, accepting the fact.
I cried and ran cursing everyone and everything.
I screamed at the universe for making this happen. Why I had to fall in love with him.
Why he had to die.
I told him he wasn't gonna die, just to relax, but I couldn't.
He ran after me to the hospital courtyard and I've never cried so much and been so heartbroken.
I found out that the doctor wrote him that list and that he only told everyone the truth because he was eventually gonna die and that they should know.
I also found the bottle with the letter in it.
It was for me.
Everyday I go to His grave and tell him everything and read the letter.
The saying
"All good things come to an end,"
is true.
