    “The tears that stain my cheek must me look weak, I wear them proudly, I wear them proud!” I scream.
    “Nova! I’m leaving! Come say goodbye!” yells my mom. She’s going on another “business trip” but I honestly think she’s just going out and messing around with her friends for a week. I bet she doesn’t even leave the state, or the town!
    I pause my Asking Alexandria sound track and crash down the stairs. Mom is standing at the door arguing with my dad about using his suite case.
    “I bought it!” smirks mom
    “You bought it for me!” argues dad
    “So what? It’s not like you’re going anywhere!”
    “What if I want to or have to take off for a few days?”
    “Um hi, what about me dad?” I interrupted.
    “Nova your 15 years old and in a few days you will be 16, you can handle yourself right?” he says not really caring what my answer will be. So I don’t answer and just go straight to mom.
    “Bye mom, see you in one week.” I say hugging her.
    “Or more!” she chuckles.
    Great. That means dad will leave for a few days just to get back at her.
    “Bye everyone! Nova don’t forget to make my bed and do my laundry!” she calls with the door half way shut.
    My dad stomped off to the kitchen and threw open the fridge door. He grabbed a beer, pops its top and chugs it down while grabbing his keys. “I have to go to the store.” he said with half his breath. That was code for “I’m going out to a strip club to get drunk. (That is, even more drunk)
    “But you just had a drink! You can’t drive!”
    “So? You’re not my freaking mother!” he said while throwing the bottle on the floor. It shattered and the pieces slid all across the hard wood floor. Wow he was drunk already. “Clean this up! And do the dishes and wash my clothes!” he yelled in my face.
    I had to otherwise he would come home drunk and probably hit me. He hit mom before when she didn’t get his clothes ironed in time; and guess what? He was drunk. So I moseyed into the kitchen and got the broom and dust pan. Dad was gone by the time I got back and left the door wide open. I shut it and cleaned up then headed back to my room.
    I jumped onto my bed and punched my pillows. What jerks I had for parents. Cheating, ditching their kid and making her a slave. Yeah, every teenagers dream.
    Right when I stopped, I heard a tap on my window. I thought it was just a branch so I straightened up my pillows. But I heard it again. So I walked over to the window and saw a tall black haired kid holding up a skate board with a wide smile on his face.
    My eyes light up right when I realized who it was. I grabbed my board, my flat bill hat and ran out the door. He met me in my front yard. Right when we saw each other, we dropped our boards and hugged. I jumped into his arms and wrapped my legs around his waist. And we kissed.
    When we finally released, I said “Oh my god I haven’t seen you in weeks! Where have you been?”
    “My parents grounded me and stuck me in my room all day for weeks. But then they had an emergency at work and had to go. They called and said they were ganna be gone all night. So I was able to sneak out.”
    “Great! My mom just left for a “business trip” and my dad’s out getting hammered. And how did you get in trouble?”
    “I was skating over to your house when I saw this rail I could slide on, so I went for it. But I messed up and sent my board flying into Mrs. Kelly’s window.” He said proudly.
    “That’s why you got a new one.” I said looking at his board lying upside down on the grass. His new board had a black background and a skull with heart eyes on it. But this was no clip art skull; it was looked like a legit skull. It was holding a rose in its mouth. On the bottom of the board there were the words ‘Wild and running for one reason, they can’t stop us from our freedom BVB.”
    “Yeah, but now we got all night to do whatever we want!” he said grabbing his board and punching the air with it. We both threw our boards down and stepped onto them with our vans skate shoes. He had his black boy’s skater jeans and I had ripped black skinny jeans. He had a wild and reckless tee and I had my black tang top that said ‘mystic mystery’ in shiny neon purple.
    The second we pushed away from my house, we escaped reality and entered our own world where it was just us. We didn’t know where we were going or care as long as we were together.
