Can’t Control Love
Chapter One/Melody’s POV:
It was after I had taken my last exam sophomore year. My friends Clara and Steph wanted to go out to lunch afterwards. But something deep down was telling me I shouldn’t go. Instead I decided to take the long way home, through the park. I heard a guy singing, and a guitar being played. He was good, really good. I started to walk towards the music playing. It wasn’t a familiar song, it sounded like an original. But it wasn’t bad or weird or anything, I would actually consider buying it on iTunes if it was on there. I saw a guy about my age, sixteen or so, playing the music I was hearing. I hid behind a tree and listened to it. It was really good. He had medium-short dark brown hair and the most gorgeous eyes I had ever seen. He looked familiar, but he couldn’t have gone to school with me since I went to an all-girls school. After he stopped playing I started to clap. I had no idea what had gotten over me. I was usually so shy around people I didn’t know. I started to walk towards him. “You’re really good.” I told him truthfully. “Thanks.” he said while shining his bright white teeth at me. “No, I mean you’re really good. Like good enough to be famous.” I told him. “Nah, not really.” he blushed from the compliments. “Seriously, you’re amazing. Better than Justin Bieber.” I joked. He laughed. “My name’s Melody.” I told him. “I’m Chase.” he shook my hand. “Where do you go to school?” he asked. “Balton Acadmeny for Girls.” I told him not sounding too happy about it. “That’s cool, I guess.” I shook my head, “Not really.” I laughed. “How about you? Where do you go to school?” “Williamson High.” he told me. “No school of the arts?” I acted shocked. “Didn’t get in.” he shrugged. “That’s insane. You’re amazing.” I told him truthfully. “I’m glad you think so.” he said while zipping up his guitar. “Like you could seriously become famous. Don’t let anybody else tell you otherwise. You’re super talented. That song you were singing, what was it called?” He ran his fingers through his hair, “It doesn’t have a name yet. None of my songs do.” I started to play with my strawberry blonde hair, “Well, maybe I could help. I think the one you were singing should be called, Something More.” He nodded his head, “I like it, a lot. You’re really good that.” I blushed. “I’ve got to get going, but listen tomorrow night I’m playing at a bar in downtown LA. You should come.” he said while writing down the place of the bar on a piece of paper. “I’ll defiantly come.” I told him. “See you there, Melody.” he said while walking away.
That’s how Chase and I became friends. I know what you’re thinking, just friends? We were just friends and that’s it. I went to quite a few of his gigs and then we hung out for practically the whole summer. That summer we became best friends. I helped him with his music a lot. I kept telling him one day he was going to be discovered but he never believed me. For some reason, he was so modest and didn’t think he was good. When in reality he was amazing and mad talented. Junior year started and I started to see somebody named Luke. We dated all through Junior year. Luke was cool with Chase and I being friends and Chase liked Luke. Chase and I still continued to be best friends. My friends Clara and Steph didn’t mind me spending so much time with Chase either. From the day I met Chase I just felt as if my whole life had improved. But then, that summer after Junior year changed everything.
