Society's definition of perfect has quickly become this strange unattainable image of a size zero body, big breasts and buttocks, and perfect hair & skin. Personally, I don't know who was specifically given the right to decide what perfect is and what it means to be beautiful. Nobody can physically be perfect, it is quite unattainable and because of society, people are spending their whole lives striving to fit that image. They are becoming fake, slowly drifting away from who they really are, and slowly becoming blind to who they were meant to be. People are giving up on hopes and dreams because society says that their dreams are not "cool" or because maybe they are afraid of being different. Small children are being brought up sitting and staring at all these other people thinking about how they wished they looked like them. Why aren't they being taught to love themselves and that being them is beautiful enough? Trust me, when little children are watching television they notice. They notice that nobody has any pimples, and that they are all skinny and beautiful. They start at an early age, being made to believe that the definition of perfection is the small waists and big eyes they see on the screen. As they get older and start to see that they don't look exactly like that, they think they are wrong. That there is something wrong with them. But why can't we be taught at an early age that every size and shape is beautiful? Why is there even a definition of beautiful? We should create our own definition, in fact each and every person is there own definition of beautiful.
We are told to be ourselves but how can we do that if being ourselves is not considered good enough? We are constantly being limited as to how much of ourself is acceptable to show the world. People complain all the time that nobody is perfect, but maybe if people didn't make us think that being perfect was a necessity, that would be acceptable. If we as a community stopped pointing out that others aren't perfect, then maybe people would start to believe that they don't need to be, and that they are great the way they are.
