The Small Surprises. Chapter 1.
My phone rang blaring out the music "Payphone" by Maroon 5 . It was Sienna. My closest, boy-loving, music junkie, friend. Best friend that is. I quickly slid the button to answer.
"Hey", I said, "Whats up?".
"I AM SO MAD RIGHT NOW!!", she fumed.
"Woah. Okay first of all calm down! Second of all, what the hell did you call me for?", I replied.
"Ugh! That h*e just stole ma' man!", She said almost sounding like she wanted to rip MY head off.
"Really? Wow, Nicole really is deperate."
"YES, I know!! And worst of all, she asked him to the Halloween dance! How the hell am I supposed to get a date WAY sexier than Andrew!?!
"You do know thats a month away right?"
"Help me out Viloet! Oh yeah and who are you going to the dance with?", she asked.
"Me? Pftt. I'd rather stay home than go hunt for a date. Besides, who would take me?", I said. Truth was I knew who I wanted to go with. Mitchel. Mitchel Conners. But like I said, who would want to take me? I'm your average girl. Average hieght. Probably a little less than average weight. Average brown hair. Emerald eyes. Slim face. Average nose. Not much.
"Puh-lease. Talk to me when you're ready. Mull it over."
"Fine. Anyways, what about Andrew? Theres always Jake. Hook up with someone else. Forget about your old laundry."
"Your right. Besides I-"
"VIOLET! DINNER!", my mom screamed from the kitchen.
"YES MUM! COMING!", I replied. "Sorry Sienna. I gotta go. Ill see you tomorrow."
"Sure. Night.", she said and then hung up.
I said good-bye to my long braid and quickly un-did it, leaving my natural hair flowing down, pushing a headband through. My mom hates me "under-dressed" at dinner. Hey, all i want to do is be in my pj's the entire night but noo. I buttoned up my green plaid shirt that I had on over my black skinny tank top. Then rolling my sleeves down I headed out the door.
I arrived at the door of the kitchen and first saw my 16-year old sister Katy texting away. I was two years older than her. Although currently only one since im turning 18 this January.
"Ahem" My mother said impatiently.
I quickly sat down.
"So. Where have you gone this past month?", my mom asked.
"Umm. Sephora. Forever 21, Zara, MAC, Coach. Why?"
"Violet Im taking away your car. Thats that."
"WHAT! No you CANNOT do that!"
"Yes I can! I am your mother!
"Whatever! How am I going to get to school?!"
"You walk!"
"Thats unfair!! Everyone drives!"
" But not everyone wastes $500+ a month!"
"Ugh!!", I groaned.
"Manners Violet!", my mother scolded.
"To hell with manners", i murmured.
My sister snorted hearing what I said.
I shot her a look then sat in silence for the rest of dinner.
