This Time

"Carson?" I ask curiously, sure enough the tall, curvy blonde girl turns around. Her eyes are shining blue, there's a hint of annoyance when she sees who it is. She looks both ways before grabbing my hand and dragging me to a small, empty room.
"Wha-wha-what the f/ck happened to you?" I say, my mouth gaping still. The previously mousy brown hair, dull blue eyes, pale acne covered skin, and no make up Carson is totally different.
She sighs as if it should be known,
"Hair dye, contacts, remover, make up, spray tan and push-up bra's" She says rolling her eyes at me.
"You look really.." I search for the right words for my completely transformed friend.
"Hot? Yeah I know, now listen up" She says holding my shoulders, "I'm no longer tha geeky Carson from 8th grade, I'm Carly the totally hot and totally available chick from California" She says and her eyes sparkle. I snort with laughter.
"Carly from California?" I say cracking up, she looks at me with a hurt expression. Crossing her arms she glares at me,
"It's not funny J!!!" She complains
"You've officially become a pris" I say still laughing
"God Jackie, I thought you would've matured a little" She says, and with a toss of her hair she walks out of the room.
I'm still laughing my idiotic laugh when I see him.
Dirty blonde hair, bright green eyes, a white tank top and to top it all off a baseball cap. His head is thrown back laughing, Nate and Zeak are on either side of him. He stops laughing, a smile easily resting on his face. His head turns my way, his eyes catching mine.
The gaze holds for only a second.
In that one second I can feel all the memories twisting between us.
Every long night, every good morning text, every touch, every smile.
It all runs through my mind as I catch his eye.
And then he looks away, and I can feel my heart fall apart again.
It would've have lasted anyways I tell myself, and I start walking to my class.
I'm not going to fall in love this year.
I'm not going break my heart this time.
