Her crystal blue eyes stared at mine
. They said more in a single second than her lips could whisper in a lifetime.
I stared back screaming in my head what I urged to say out loud
. Her eyelash batted away a tear.
The sides of her lips showed signs of burning
from the rough, frayed rope tied tight.
“You had to be a hero, didn’t you?”
We jumped; our eye contact broke.
I struggled to turn around as the rope clung to my skin.
“You could have just told us the truth”
a deeper voice spoke.
The room population now apparently four.
♥ “Let us go” I barked, but only a muffled shout was heard by the room.
I bit at the rope gripped between my teeth without prevail.
“Now, because I am nice…” declared the deeper voiced man
-I sniggered at the statement –
“…I am going to give you one more chance to tell us the truth”
The other man lunged at me and sliced the rope with a knife,
the blade brushed my skin and tasted my sweat.
I remained silent.
I looked over at the un-named woman tied beside me.
She raised her eyebrows desperately begging me to not tell.
I wouldn’t.
I couldn’t.
I found myself getting lost in her eyes,
like I had so many times before,
her blue iris’ seemingly melting into tears
and her eye whites faded red.
Years past bye staring onto her eyes; that’s how it felt.
An instrument impacted onto my head
knocking me, along with the rusty chair to the ground.
As my world faded to black,
I knew the secret would die
in those crystal blue eyes.
