   chapter 29.
   Anna's POV
   *4 years later*
   "So I would like to tell the story of how the happy couple met." The best man started his toast at the wedding reception. I zoned out and started to think about all that has happened in the past five years. I met Kevin, pretended to go out with him, pretended to fall in love with him, actaully fell in love with him, went on the senior class trip, and lost touch with my best friend. I also got my heart broken by Kevin. At the end of the summer after senior year, Kevin suggested we break up since he would be going to school across the country. I agreed reluctantly. However, he realized after 2 weeks that he needed me. Then, on the same day as the senior class trip three years before, he proposed to me, on the rooftop of the apartment building. I know we are young, but it feels right. I focused back on the best man.
   "...so pretty much she blackmailed him." Everyone laughed as he finished his story including Kevin and myself. Kevin took my hand and I knew that this was only the begining of the rest of our lives. The pieces of my puzzle were finally falling into place.
   Authors Note: So this is my last story for a while. I decided I was not gonna post for a while after the last chapter, but then I felt bad about never finishing the last chapter so here it is! I hope you like it! Thank you for reading! It means the world to me<3

   Kevin's POV
   Anna opened the door anxiously and saw my little surprise. She scanned the whole scene and took it all in. We were on the roof of the apartment building. There were pipes and air vents covering the ground, but there was one clear path that led straight to an old patio table with two lawn chairs set up. I followed Anna over to the table. I wondered if she liked it, she still hasn't said a word. She picked up the bag and raised an eyebrow at me.
   "McDonalds?" She asked. I still couldn't tell if this was a good idea or not. Maybe a movie would have been better...
   "Well, I can't cook for my life, and everyone likes McDonalds. I don't know. We could go to a restaurant if that would be better." I said trying to explain myself.
   She laughed. "Stop, this is perfect." She took out the fries from the bag and we both sat down at the table. I held her hand and we talked for a while until she sat on my lap and we watched the stars. I thought it was kinda boring, but I could tell that she loved it so it was fine with me.
   ------
   "Bye" I said as she was about to get out of the car.
   "As my boyfriend aren't you supposed to walk me to the door?" She asked me with a smirk. I unbuckled my seatbelt and walked over to meet her at the other side of the car. I walked her up the front walkway up to the little porch. I grabbed her waist and kissed her once before she had to go. The porch light flickered and she pulled away from me.
   "That's my cue." She said quietly with her perfect smile still looking straight at me.
   Authors Note: Wow guys you probably hate me for not posting in FOREVER but I am SOSOSOSOSOSO SORRY! I have had writters block and was being bipolar about what I wanted the surprise to be. I also had no clue what I wanted my next story to be about and didn't want to end this one without a plan. BUT! I have a few ideas and might let you all vote on your favorite. Just an idea. Leave me some feedback on.. welll... everything! Love you all<33 Thanks for sticking with me[:

   chapter 26.
   Anna's POV
   "What kind of surprise?" I asked playfully.
   "Well if I told you that it wouldn't be much of a surprise now would it?" he said while laughing a little. I frowned and grabbed his hand. "Come on." He led me up the stairs and into the kitchen. "Mom, Anna and I are going out, we should be back around 10."
   His mom looked up from the cookie batter she was mixing and smiled. "Okay, have fun, but be safe!" She said happily.
   "We will." I assured her. We walked out the foyer and out to the driveway. "I love your mom." I said with a little laugh.
   Kevin laughed and nodded, "Yea most people do, it is hard not to." He opened the car door for me and we both got in. I buckled my seatbelt and after he pulled out of the driveway, he took my hand and held it the whole drive. After about 15 minutes we arrived at a brick building. It was about 15 stories, and was pretty rundown. We both got out of the car and I kept studying the building. Then I noticed a sign that read North Brook Apartments.
   "An old apartment building?" I asked a little confused.
   "Yup, here put this on." He said as he held out a dark blue bandana. I just looked at him and he held his arm out closer to me. I reluctantly grabbed it and tied it around my head covering my eyes.
   "Okay now there are a lot of steps coming up." He warned me after he had been guiding me for a little while. He let go of my hand and slipped his arm around my waist and held me tight. After it seemed like we had went up 50 floors he let me go and told me to take the bandana off. I pulled it off and saw a white door in front of me. "Open it." He said simply. I was still confused as I turned the rusty knob and revealed my surprise.

   Anna's POV
   "What do you mean!?" I exploded on him. "There is only a week until the trip! You only have a week to go! I should totally tell about you cheating because since you didn't keep your end of the deal why should I? I mean when my mom finds out-" I was still in the middle of yelling at him when he grabbed my waist, pulled me into him, and pressed his lips on mine. It was even more amazing than all of our fake kisses because this one was not forced, it had meaning. After an amazing minute or two he pulled away and all I could do was stare at him breathlessly.
   "I thought that would be nicer than telling you to shut up." He said with a smirk.
   "What the hell is going on?" I asked so confused. I thought he liked Kayla, but then he kisses me? He grabbed my hand and pulled me over to the couch. We both sat down, but he didn't let go of my hand.
   "You never let me finish." He began. "I said that I couldn't pretend to be your boyfriend anymore because I want to be your real boyfriend." He finished while looking into my eyes and squeezing my hand. "What do you say?"
   I couldn't believe this was happening. I was waiting to hear my mom telling me to wake up and get ready for school, but it never came.
   "Yes, I want you to be my real boyfriend." I said excitedly. He smirked and we both leaned in and shared one more kiss before he got up.
   "Okay, now that you said yes, I have a surprise for you."

   Anna's POV
   I decided I would go to Kevin's house. I was way to curious to not. I got ready and figured since he liked Kayla there was no point in dressing to impress. I threw on my grey sweat pants and a sweatshirt, and put my hair in a messy bun, not even one of those perfect messy buns, a truly messy bun. I grabbed my black uggs and my keys on the way out and was on my way. I blasted my radio because I was mad and before I knew it I was pulling into his driveway. I walked up the front path and rang the door bell. Imeadiately I heard his two golden retrievers barking. His mom came to the door and smiled her huge smile at me.
   "Anna! Good to see you! Come in!" She said happily. I don't think I have ever seen this woman frown, I thought as I walked through the dark brown stained door. "Kevin is in the basement go on down." I thanked her and headed to the stairs. Kevin was watching tv and he turned it off as soon as he saw me.
   "Hey." he greeted me. "We need to talk." Here it comes I thought. He is going to tell me that he and Kayla are a thing.
   "I'm listening." I said in a monotone.
   "I can't pretend to be your boyfriend anymore."
   Authors Note: So my excuse for not posting in a week is that my power went out from the snow storm on the east coast and I didn't get it back until a few days ago. Sorry and I hope this chapter and the next one (which is going to be REALLY good) will make up for it!

   Kayla's POV
   I saw Anna the next day at school. The past week she has managed to never be at her locker when I was at mine since they were next to each other, but today.
   "Hey." I said hesitantly. She looked at me for a second and then peered back into her locker. "I know I made a mistake about telling Paige, but can't you just get over it?" I said sort of harshly.
   She looked up at me, "I am over that."
   "Then why are you mad!" I almost shouted. People around us were starting to stare.
   "Because I saw you and Kevin the other night!" She slammed her locker shut and sped down the hall. I was wabout to follow her when the bell rang, if I was late to homeroom again I would be suspended. I decided to deal with her later and hurried away with everyone's eyes still on me.
   Anna's POV
   How could she not know that I liked Kevin? We have been, I mean we WERE, best friends forever. She always knows when I like someone. My phone beeping interupted my thoughts. I glanced at the screen. 1 new text from Kevin<33 I opened it up.
   Kevin<33: I need to talk to you. come over after school?
   Me: is Kayla gonna be there?
   Kevin's POV
   Stuff with Anna was getting out of control. I needed to tell her how I felt and soon. I texted her to meet me at my place after school.
   Anna[; is Kayla gonna be there?
   Me: Why would she?
   What is Anna talking about? Why would Kayla be there?
   Anna[; I know how you two feel about each other, I am not stupid.
   She must have seen us at Subway. I wanted so badly to text her right then saying I love you, but it would be better said in person. She better show up.
   Authors Note: Kinda boring. -__- sorry. Things will get really good in a chapter or two. I don't think I have ever done POV's for all of the main characters in one chapter before. lol

   Kevin's POV
   I tried to find Anna at school, but it seemed like she was avoiding me all day long. At lunch I spotted her and gestured for her to sit with me, but she quickly sat at another table. I saw her in the halls between history and calculus, called her name, but she quickly ducked into the nearest classroom. I had football practice after school, so I probably wouldn't even see her until the next day. However, I did see Kayla.
   "So did you tell her yet?" She asked me with a wink. "Oh did you tell her that I helped you? Maybe I should text her. What do you think?" She asked as she drowned me with questions.
   "Woah, Kayla slow down. I didn't get to talk to her because she has been avoiding me all day long."
   Kayla frowned, "Are you sure she is avoiding you? Maybe she just doesn't see you." She said hopefully.
   I shook my head and slung my backpack over my shoulder. "Nope, we made definite eye contact."
   "Well I have to go, but hopefully she will be over it by tomorrow. I need my best friend back."
   "Bye." I said with a slight sigh. I never thought that I would feel this way about a girl. I feel like she is playing me even though we were never really together......

    Kayla's POV
    I figured I should help Kevin. Then maybe if Anna finds out I helped them get together, she will get over what I did and talk to me again. It was really stupid what I did. If I could go back in time I would.
    "Okay." I said placing my hands palm down on the table. "Anna is a very straight forward person." Kevin just looked at me with a blank stare. "That means that you should just tell her how you feel. Don't play games or anything else stupid."
    "So I just tell her?"
    "Yes do you need to practice on me?" I joked
    He nodded his head. "Actually that would be great."
    Anna's POV
    I walked into Subway to grab a sandwich before practice and saw Kevin with Kayla. They hung out? I guess so. I walked over to their table and when I was a few feet away I saw Kevin put his hand on Kayla's.
    "I think I love you." I overheard him say. What?!? Kayla smiled back at him and before they could even see me I was out of the restaurant. How could Kayla do that to me? I know I am mad at her and all but she knew I really really liked Kevin. I got in my car and drove home. I didn't even care if I missed practice.
    Kayla's POV
    I moved my hand away once Kevin was done and smiled. "She will love that!" I gushed. He smiled shyly and stood up.
    "This was fun but I have to get home. Thanks." He said
    I nodded and stood up also. "Yea I have to go also. And your welcome."

    Anna's POV
    It had been a few days since the football game and everyone pretty much forgot about the drama with me and Kevin. People thought we were a couple and I still wished we were a couple. Kayla wasn't talking to me and I wasn't talking to her. I didn't need her anyway. I mean, sure I don't really have anymore best friends like her but you know, I would rather have a few good friends, then one back stabbing "best friend".
    Kevin's POV
    Some time had passed since the game and I knew I had to do something about Anna. I couldn't just let her dump me after the class trip. I didn't know exactly what to do so I went to the one person who knows Anna best.

    "Hey thanks for coming." I said as Kayla sat down in the booth of Subway. She nodded and put her phone on the table.
    "So what did you want to talk about?" She asked me curiously.
    "Anna." I said flat out.
    Her expression changed although I am not sure to what emotion."Anna? What is there to talk about? I made a mistake and now she hates me what is there to talk about?" She snapped at me.
    "Sorry, but I meant my problems with Anna." I said trying not to get her even more mad.
    Her face softened and she replied, "Oh, sorry. Then what is this all about?"
    I gathered up all of my courage and just said it. It felt good also, finally being able to tell someone. "I am in love with Anna."
    She put her hand over her mouth but I could tell she was smiling. "Oh my gosh!! That is so cute!! So then what's the problem?"
    "Well I want to tell her, but I don't know how. To her I am just a way to go on the class trip." I said with a sigh.
    "Yea, but Kevin you can't forget that you agreed to this. She probably thinks that you think of her as a way to stay on the football team." I actually never thought of that.
    "So what's our plan?" I asked cutting to the chase.

    Anna's POV
    Kevin grabbed the ball and pointed straight at me in the crowd.
    "For you!" He shouted over everyone else. All eyes were on me as I jumped off the bench and ran towards him. "Time for the big finish," I thought to myself. I ran onto the field and jumped into Kevin's arms. He kissed me and then put me down just as all of his team mates were coming over. They high fived and did that little guy hug thing. When they were all done Kevin grabbed my hand and we walked back to the stands.
    "You two are so cute together!" One girl said sweetly as we walked past.
    "Thanks." I replied with a fake smile. It killed me when people said stuff like that because I wanted to really be with him. We walked past the entrance to the school when I stopped.
    "Don't you want to shower and stuff?" I asked him
    He shook his head, "Nope. I want to take my 'girlfriend' out for ice cream." He said with a smirk.
    "What about your stuff?"
    "I will get it later come on!" He said as he pulled me by the hand to his car. Once we were out of everyone's view he let go and we got in.
    "Is Cups good with you?" he asked after we were driving for a minute or two.
    "Great." i said pretty non enthusiastically

    Anna's POV
    I walked to the bleachers on the back field at the school and sat in the very first row. Only five minutes until the game started. I could feel my heart pounding and my body shaking. I hope this works. All he has to do is score the winning touchdown. I said that like it was easy. Luckily Donny was on the football team and agreed to help Kevin after he almost let out our secret the first time. The refs blew the whistle and all of the players walked onto the field. My eyes immediately picked out Kevin, lucky number 21. They all got into a line and the whistle blew once again. The player hiked the ball and the game began. I don't watch football so I didn't know what was going on, but when people from my school cheered, I did too. At half time we were down 15- 0. I looked at the other fans in the bleachers and spotted Kayla. She wasn't as dressed up as she usually was. No face paint, no ribbons in her hair, no team shirts. I remember our first football game ever.

    "Okay we are going all out for this game." Kayla said as she barged into my bedroom. I watched her plop onto my bed with a bag in her hand.
    "What's in the bag?" I asked. She always had a surprise up her sleeve. She opened the bag and started removing stuff.
    "These are supplies. Maroon and gold ribbons for our hair, red and yellow face paint because they didn't have maroon or gold, and for you a maroon shirt, and for me a gold shirt!" She said happily. I looked at the stuff laid out on my bed and then back at her. "What?" She asked defensively but still with a smile.
    "We are freshman, we aren't supposed to draw attention to ourselves..." I said quietly.
    "Says who?" She replied with a laugh. I shrugged and she moved over to me. "Okay I will do your face if you do mine." I sighed and nodded.
    ------
    I snapped out of my flashback when the whistle for the end of half time blew. The played ran onto the field this time and I still had no idea what was going on. A little while later everyone jumped up and starting cheering. I looked at the scoreboard and noticed we got a touchdown and the field goal. There was only 3 minutes left until the end of the game, and we managed to score again and tie the game at 15- 15. Each second was crucial and there was only 46 seconds left when something amazing happened. Donny ran halfway down the field, threw the ball to Kevin, who then ran the rest of the field and scored the winning touchdown. The fans jumped to their feet and started cheering and everyone was watching Kevin, who instead of doing his touchdown dance, did something different.

    makes me!! I am dearly sorry for being so late

    Anna's POV
    I walked into the bathroom only to see Kayla at the mirror reapplying her raspberry red lip gloss. She looked up and her face immediately went into shock. Her brown eyes opened wide and her mouth dropped.
    "What happened?" She asked as she stepped closer to me. I moved back from her and looked down at my ruined outfit.
    "Paige 'accidentally' spilt her iced coffee on me at lunch" I said as I rolled my eyes. She went over and grabbed a bunch of paper towels from the dispenser and walked back over to me.
    "Let me help." She said. "Wow it is even in your hair." She added as she moved the towel toward my hair. I moved away quickly again.
    "No, Kayla. I don't need your help, you have done enough for me as it is." I said with an attitude.
    She looked hurt as she dropped the paper towels on the counter next to the sink.
    "Fine. Be that way." She said sharply and walked out. I might have been a little harsh on her, but she deserved it. Right? I brushed away my thoughts and focused on getting cleaned up. I moistened some of the towels and tried to get as much of the coffee out of my hair as I could.
    It took me half of the lunch period to get cleaned up. My hair looked like it had before the "accident", but I couldn't get the coffee out of the jersey. I texted Kevin and told him to meet me at his locker. I felt horrible and tried to think of ways to explain it to him as I walked down the hall. He needed to wear it that night and it was ruined.
    "Hey, what's up?" Kevin asked as I turned the corner. He looked down at the jersey and it didn't really seem to phase him.
    "I am so so so sorry! Paige spilt it on me and now you it is ruined for tonight!!!" I exclaimed as soon as I could. He smiled and started to laugh. Why was he laughing? What was he supposed to play in tonight? "What's so funny? I ruined the jersey that you have to wear tonight!"
    "Anna, that's my away jersey. I don't wear that one tonight." Well that's a relief. I thought to myself.
    'Oh that's good." I said with sort of a laugh.
    "Okay well you can't wear that anymore, it is all wet. Give it to me." He said.
    I hesitated for a moment and then pulled the jersey off over my head revealing my purple tank top.
    "Here, put this on." He said as he reached into his locker, pulled out his home jersey and tossed it to me.
    "Thanks." I said with a smile. I slipped it on just as the bell rang. "I have to go. See you at the game?"
    He nodded and as I was walking away I heard him call me.
    "Anna?"
    I turned around and looked at him. "Yeah?"
    "Don't get coffee on this one." He teased. I laughed and continued down the hall. Only 3 more periods until the big game, and the even bigger plan.

    Anna's POV
    The rest of the night Kevin and I watched my favorite movie, Up. I have always been a sucker for Pixar movies. It was about halfway through when I started to get tired and before I knew it I was sleeping with my head on Kevin's shoulder.

    "Anna, wake up." I heard someone softly whisper as they gently shook my shoulder. I opened my eyes and looked around taking in my surroundings. I realized I was in Kevin's car. He must have carried me while I was still sleeping. However, I couldn't tell where we were because it was so dark out.
    "Where are we and what time is it?" I asked as I rubbed my eyes. He looked at his phone for the time and then back at me.
    "We are in front of your house and it is 1:03 AM. Sorry it is so late, I wanted to finish watching the movie." He said still in a whisper.
    I nodded. "Did you like it?" I asked with a bit of a giggle.
    He nodded, "I liked when you find out that the bird thing is a girl." He said with a laugh. I giggled and then unbuckled my seatbelt.
    "I should probably go. We have school in the morning."
    "Yea, don't forget the plan." He said with a slight smile."
    "I won't." I climbed out of the car and went straight up to my room to go to bed. I would need a good night sleep to pull off the plan at the football game tomorrow.

    The next day I woke up earlier than usual to get ready. I was going to wear Kevin's jersey to school today. That is what all of the football players girlfriends do on game day. Since it was so big I put it on with a pair of black leggings and my chestnut Ugg boots. I curled my hair and put in a maroon colored bow to match the color of the maroon and gold jersey. When I was finally done I grabbed my bag and walked to my car. I had a feeling this would be a long day.
    Authors Note: Was at a retreat this weekend so I couldn't post.

    Just as Kevin was about to turn his car on and leave after school, I opened the passenger door of his navy blue Jeep Wrangler and got in.
    "People know." I said before he could even say hi.
    "Know what?" He asked as he pulled his key out of the ignition.
    "About us!! About us not really being a couple. I mean most people think it is just a rumor, but Lauren is trying to get everyone to believe it! She says we don't PDA enough and that means we aren't real! What do we do?!" I shouted really quickly.
    He put his hand on my shoulder. "Anna, calm down." He said slowly. He voice was so calming.
    I took a deep breath, "What do we do?" I asked more calmly. He thought for a moment.
    "If PDA is what she wants, PDA is what she is going to get. You said she was going to the football game tomorrow right?" He asked me.
    I nodded, and he told me his plan. It could work, the only downside.. he had to score the winning touchdown.
    "....and that is our plan." I told Kayla the next day at her house.
    "Sounds great." She said not enthused at all.
    I looked at her weird. "Why have you been acting weird lately?" I asked her cautiously.
    "I'm not." She said defensively.
    "Kayla we have been best friends forever. I know you better than anyone else." I said.
    She sighed and began "Anna you are going to hate me, but I am the reason everyone knows you and Kevin are faking." She said quietly.
    "What do you mean? You are kidding right?" I said standing up from her lime green beanbag chair.
    "I can't lie to you. I was jealous of you and Kevin, not because you were dating, but because since you started going out, we stopped hanging out. So I told Lauren that it was all an act. I am so sorry." She explained a tear rolling down her cheek.
    "How could you Kayla? You are supposed to be my best friend! If you really were my best friend you would have just told me instead of sabotaging my senior year! I trusted you and you just threw that trust away! Don't bother calling me tonight or ever!" I shouted my voice getting louder with every word. She was crying harder now, but I didn't care. I sped out of her room and slammed her door behind me. As I was about to leave her mom stopped me.
    "Anna, what happened up there? I heard yelling." She asked concerned.
    "Ask Kayla." I said as I opened the front door and walked into the snow. How could she do that to me? I got into my car and started to drive I didn't even realize where I was going until I pulled into the driveway.
