Oh wow, that's really unfortunate. Fun parallel story: my dad did an Ironman (triathlon) in the end of September and he wanted to get below 12 hrs. He got 12 hours and 1 minute
Oh geez I'm so sorry, that's really horrible. Although I heard that since the mapping of the human genome like they should be getting better medications around soon??? like it's been a decade now but that should help get better stuff on the market reply

Oh god I am so unexcited to take them next year but I mean the different levels of finalists get a certain amount off their college tuition? Like my sister was a semi-finalist for NJ which is pretty good but she only got like $2,000 off her tuition per year
They're so scary oh my god but like sometimes they're necessary like last year my friend told me she stopped taking her bc it made her a better actor and I was like ".. no that not how it works,,, take ur prescribed meds please"

Yeah not taking medicine can be really bad sometimes, especially antidepressants and the like. I was taking them a few years ago and I started having the really bad side affects and I wasn't sleeping/sleeping too much and I would wake up in the middle of the night hallucinating it was really terrible. reply

But like??? Those are separate things why are they suddenly together um. Anti-depressants actually do so much harm but I guess there aren't any better options. Actually my eighth grade science teacher told us that one year this one boy had severe SAD and he had this huge lamp that he would have to sit with to get his sunlight/vitamin D or whatever reply

Yeah, I heard they were just really long? And apparently there was a math question in the reading which sums up the US edu. system pretty well. And it was, but I just got so mad because like one of the presenters talked about her own struggle with depression and her own attempt and then the other guy and his son and people fell asleep and people were laughing at some points and just people were being overall disrespectful like stop feigning ignorance about these things if you only sit and shut your ears every damn time someone tries to educate you. But they also brought a dog!!! so. And yeah, definitely. It's definitely getting harder but it's nice that people are starting to catch on. reply

Speaking of depression (though nothing quite that terrible really, woah people are jack.sses) today we were talking (kind of more like listening) in stats about Zoloft and my teacher listed like two side affects and I was sitting there thinking about how people don't like, get how screwed up anti depressants (particularly that one) are reply

Here the counselors and staff are really good at catching stress usually (or at least in 8th grade our lovely counselor did and all the teachers were very supportive) and some of the teacher here are also pretty understanding and we have a school psychiatrist like there are A LOT of preventative measures here to keep people from cracking but it doesn't always work like we had a mental health assembly today bc as you know probably know the sophomores and juniors had to take the PSATs and one of the presentors literally talked about his own son committing when he was 18 and he like was in our district so???? it's honestly scary reply

Here everyone that's meant to be the advanced type cracks by Junioryear (I mean I did Frehman year but I kind of fixed some of it). I'm honestly waiting for one of the really clever ones to break with all the pressure in their shoulders. reply

Yeah exactly like that quote "the ones on tightest leashes run the farthest when it snaps" or whatever. I mean in my town specifically, that tends to really only happen when kids go away to college because we don't really get too many kids doing risque stuff here but it happens. But like so many kids go away to college and then come back with like 10 tattoos, a crack addiction, and a GPA under 2.5 reply

No, it's still pretty weird. Like Dan (the Lawrenceville kid) wasn't allowed to watch TV until the age of seven? And he can't even call me or Facetime me past like, 10 pm even if it's for schoolwork and I'm like? How do you even get stuff done with a schedule and parents like that. And he is such a hard worker but it stopped being that admirable when it started getting to him and honestly parents like that scare me because they seriously mess up their kids for like, life. reply

Thank you! And I go to one of the top ten public schools in the country or whatever so people are huge on school here? And I think he's on scholarship to Lawrenceville now which is one of the priciest private schools in the country. They have personal keycards to get into buildings. It's wild. A lot of people here have like tiger parents (tiger mom x2) and so kids are basically groomed since preschool to get into private school and then go to an Ivy reply

Ugh I don't get parents like that. My closest example of that is my Vietnamese friend and the poor girl is always studying, competing, or workin. It all sounds far too stressful. My mom isn't even that, she's more like, I don't know, I think the idea just bugs her. Like I auditioned for the fall drama and it's the Laramie Project this year (about Matt Shepard?) and (on a sidenote: I got my first ever official callback!!!) she REALLY did not want me doing it. It bugs her. It's sad.
Don't worry about it! And yeah omg I wanted to take them because my friend, he got a full score, said I should do it for practice and I almost did but my sister talked my mom out of letting me. There are kids gearing up to take AP stuff sophomore year. I want to call them overachievers but I'd probably be doing the same if I was better about my work habits. Not to mention, there's like five different private schools within thirty minutes of here, plus whatever crazy programs Princeton likes to run, and everyone is all competitive and putting together resumes like two years early and I'm just "Yeah, community college will suffice." reply

Oh wow, that's really unfortunate. Fun parallel story: my dad did an Ironman (triathlon) in the end of September and he wanted to get below 12 hrs. He got 12 hours and 1 minute
Oh geez I'm so sorry, that's really horrible. Although I heard that since the mapping of the human genome like they should be getting better medications around soon??? like it's been a decade now but that should help get better stuff on the market

Oh god I am so unexcited to take them next year but I mean the different levels of finalists get a certain amount off their college tuition? Like my sister was a semi-finalist for NJ which is pretty good but she only got like $2,000 off her tuition per year
They're so scary oh my god but like sometimes they're necessary like last year my friend told me she stopped taking her bc it made her a better actor and I was like ".. no that not how it works,,, take ur prescribed meds please"

Yeah not taking medicine can be really bad sometimes, especially antidepressants and the like. I was taking them a few years ago and I started having the really bad side affects and I wasn't sleeping/sleeping too much and I would wake up in the middle of the night hallucinating it was really terrible.

But like??? Those are separate things why are they suddenly together um. Anti-depressants actually do so much harm but I guess there aren't any better options. Actually my eighth grade science teacher told us that one year this one boy had severe SAD and he had this huge lamp that he would have to sit with to get his sunlight/vitamin D or whatever

They're really screwy they mess with like your hormones and they can cause hallucinations and some are addictive and they can make you more depressed like what even are you doing medicine?
There was a girl in my science who had SAD but it wasn't really bad but she had the lamp thing I think.

Yeah, I heard they were just really long? And apparently there was a math question in the reading which sums up the US edu. system pretty well. And it was, but I just got so mad because like one of the presenters talked about her own struggle with depression and her own attempt and then the other guy and his son and people fell asleep and people were laughing at some points and just people were being overall disrespectful like stop feigning ignorance about these things if you only sit and shut your ears every damn time someone tries to educate you. But they also brought a dog!!! so. And yeah, definitely. It's definitely getting harder but it's nice that people are starting to catch on.

Speaking of depression (though nothing quite that terrible really, woah people are jack.sses) today we were talking (kind of more like listening) in stats about Zoloft and my teacher listed like two side affects and I was sitting there thinking about how people don't like, get how screwed up anti depressants (particularly that one) are

Here the counselors and staff are really good at catching stress usually (or at least in 8th grade our lovely counselor did and all the teachers were very supportive) and some of the teacher here are also pretty understanding and we have a school psychiatrist like there are A LOT of preventative measures here to keep people from cracking but it doesn't always work like we had a mental health assembly today bc as you know probably know the sophomores and juniors had to take the PSATs and one of the presentors literally talked about his own son committing when he was 18 and he like was in our district so???? it's honestly scary

I think that's lot of the kids that have tha pressure kind of get expected to crack. Here everyone that's meant to be the advanced type cracks by Junioryear (I mean I did Frehman year but I kind of fixed some of it). I'm honestly waiting for one of the really clever ones to break with all the pressure in their shoulders.

I mean in my town specifically, that tends to really only happen when kids go away to college because we don't really get too many kids doing risque stuff here but it happens. But like so many kids go away to college and then come back with like 10 tattoos, a crack addiction, and a GPA under 2.5

No, it's still pretty weird. Like Dan (the Lawrenceville kid) wasn't allowed to watch TV until the age of seven? And he can't even call me or Facetime me past like, 10 pm even if it's for schoolwork and I'm like? How do you even get stuff done with a schedule and parents like that. And he is such a hard worker but it stopped being that admirable when it started getting to him and honestly parents like that scare me because they seriously mess up their kids for like, life.

Thank you! And I go to one of the top ten public schools in the country or whatever so people are huge on school here? And I think he's on scholarship to Lawrenceville now which is one of the priciest private schools in the country. They have personal keycards to get into buildings. It's wild. A lot of people here have like tiger parents (tiger mom x2) and so kids are basically groomed since preschool to get into private school and then go to an Ivy

Ugh I don't get parents like that. My closest example of that is my Vietnamese friend and the poor girl is always studying, competing, or workin. It all sounds far too stressful. I mean, I'm sure in places where parenting is done commonly like that, it's not considered as weird but I just don't know.

My mom isn't even that, she's more like, I don't know, I think the idea just bugs her. Like I auditioned for the fall drama and it's the Laramie Project this year (about Matt Shepard?) and (on a sidenote: I got my first ever official callback!!!) she REALLY did not want me doing it. It bugs her. It's sad.
Don't worry about it! And yeah omg I wanted to take them because my friend, he got a full score, said I should do it for practice and I almost did but my sister talked my mom out of letting me. There are kids gearing up to take AP stuff sophomore year. I want to call them overachievers but I'd probably be doing the same if I was better about my work habits. Not to mention, there's like five different private schools within thirty minutes of here, plus whatever crazy programs Princeton likes to run, and everyone is all competitive and putting together resumes like two years early and I'm just "Yeah, community college will suffice."
